Luminosity

All my life, friends and families have taken me to numerous art galleries; in search of nice and captivating art pieces I could display on the lonely walls of my home. But alas, I always end up stepping out of the gallery empty handed and disappointed..the paintings are either too complicated for me to understand or too expensive (those painted by the well known painters/artists )
i do love paintings, but i don't think m ready to pay too much for a piece....and so the search continues...

It was not until a nice Monday evening when I came across one Miss Seema Nadheem's paintings, and at a second, I was hooked. Her art pieces, truly stand out from the rest. It would be an understatement if I were to tell you that her art is one of it's own leagues. Words fail me when I try to describe the majestic use of materials on her pieces. Her pieces, just like any other artwork, starts off with just a blank and mundane canvas, but once she lets her creativity flow, her thoughts and feelings practically flood onto the once plain sheet of canvas and thus transform itself into a work of art. A remarkable work of art, at that.
i just love water color..the effect is soft and mysterious ...(thats my - layman's term)
my favorite is the ALLAH series.. but other series are just fabulous as well...but i'm not gonna talk about Seema's work for it's never gonna end.....may be next time, insyaALLAH.

Seema is truly an amazing person. She exudes warmth and confidence and it shows on her pieces. Her jolly character and a face that never fails to light up with a beaming smile plays a large role when painting. It is no wonder that her paintings are so breath-taking, because the minute her brush touches the canvas, you know her whole heart goes into it as well.

Now, as she faces only mere days in KL before she starts her new life in Dubai, I wish to take this opportunity to express my greatest and highest gratitude to her for giving me the opportunity to experience this colourful life that she has. It saddens me to say that I wish we had spent more time together. But I guess that's life, you never know how good you have it until it decides to go away. Seema, you've been nothing but a treasure to me. And I know I speak for all of us who were lucky enough to purchase your paintings, that you have truly made our homes what they are now; vibrant with life and you've truly coloured our souls with your never ending love and kindness. You will truly be missed, and though you may be leaving us physically, but you will forever remain in our hearts. We love you and good luck on all your future endeavors.

and on behalf of everyone ,i would like to say this "we are blessed that our paths crossed..Alhamdulilah!!"

Spinach Quiche.

Spinach Quiche.

The ingredients below are enough to make 2 thin crusts. Use one half of the dough right away and freeze the other half for your next recipe!

Ingredients for the base (pâte brisée):

250 grams of flour.
125 grams of unsalted butter.
1 egg
1 tea spoon of crème fraîche (or sour cream if you can't find it) - kat Cold Storage GE Mall ada crème fraîche.
1/2 tea spoon of salt.

method:

1. First sift the flour over a large bowl and add the salt.
2. Cut the butter in tiny cubes. Incorporate the butter to the flour with your finger tips ( You could use a pastry blender but you'd loose all the fun of making your own "pâte brisée" )..;p
3. Push the flour and butter mix on the sides of the bowl, digging a hole in the center.
4. Break the egg and pour it in the hole in middle of the bowl. Beat it a little with a fork then use a wooden spoon to incorporate the flour little by little. Add the crème fraîche or sour cream and mix again until the dough is homogeneous (sebati)
(Alternatively, or if the dough is still dry, pour a few drops of water and knead.) Use your hands to knead the dough and form two balls of the same size.
5. Place the balls of dough in plastic wraps and let them rest in the fridge for at least 1 hour before using or freezing.
6. Let the dough warm up a little before rolling it out..

kalau nak lebih senang..

1. take your car out for a drive and head to GEM (Great Eastern Mall).
go to Cold Storage Supermarket ...pegi kat frozen section and look for frozen pastry for quiche and pie...hehehe

Now for the filling - custard mix + spinach or your choice of veggie or meat.

If you use fresh spinach , sautéed in butter for 2-3 minutes .

Bring 2 cups of evaporated milk to a boil then slowly pour over 3 beaten eggs, stirring constantly.

Add the nutmeg, salt and pepper.

Then follow these steps :
  1. Roll out the crust and line a 10" tart pan (butter the pan or use baking paper). Use a fork to make a few holes in the shell to prevent it from "ballooning" while baking.
  2. Place the veggies or meat at the bottom of the pie shell and spread evenly.
  3. Pour the custard mix over the veggies or meat.
  4. Sprinkle with shredded cheese. - cheddar cheese about 2 cups or more.
  5. Bake 30 to 45 minutes in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C).

Voilà !!!!!

Jangan lupa jemput sifu datang makan quiche....;p
