Ibunda oh Ibunda.

Last nite ada hamba Allah nak belanje buka puasa..
so,we went to Ibunda...heard so much about it.
I actually prefer to buka puasa kat rumah..buffet2 ni semua turn me off..
how much can you eat??and rasa blend jer..
yela,kalau dah mass production,what do you expect kan??
I pilih Ibunda sebab they don't serve buffet,
but starter adalah sikit2,
last nite's starter were,all kinds of soups,
then ada lemang,bubur lambok..etc.

started with kurma and layered cake..

but i makan buah dulu..(picture not taken)
bubor lambok....

rasa: 3 out of 10.
then they served the main course...this is nasi kerabu..

rasa: 6 out of 10
udang galah masak chili padi..

rasa: dunno,..i don't take udang galah.
then there's this goreng2 (softshell crab,burung puyoh and ikan masin)
on another dish..there's leg of lamb, udang sambal,ikan with some filling (kelapa,like pais ikan),

ayam masak merah,kentang and spinach with pinenuts..supposedly the sayur part.

rasa: 6 out of 10.

the burung puyoh goreng,sorang pun tak makan,reason:kesian..kakaka.
really,tengokla how tiny the wing is..
terbayang burung tu dgn muka sedeh..ishhhh.
but,the deserts ...superb!!..kueh ketayap and putri mandi
bubur pulut hitam and durian..(i tak suka this one..durian and pulut hitam????) and nangka goreng..sedap!
Ini lah,penaja buka puasa mlm tadi...gambar sengaje diblurkan...takut ramai yg mintak belanje...hehehe...kidding.

the verdict:

the concept of the entire restaurant was supposed to be "traditional malay fine dining", i can only persume. However, due to lack of research and probably budget, only the food and building screamed Malay Fine Dining. The rest was simply "eh? Why'd they choose this deco?". It just did not go with the concept. A huge let down to people who have gone to places like Bunga Rampai, Jakarta where the detailing was so precise and accurate that it went right down to the napkins, table cloth and even the flooring. Bunga Rampai never ceased to drop jaws.

But I guess, Ibunda would do alright amongst tourists who don't really know stuff. Unless of course you studied Malay Architecture and traditions. Overall I would give Ibunda 2 stars out of 5.
